Learn to speak French

French is next on our roadmap, but it isn't open yet. We launched with Spanish alone on purpose: one complete course, built all the way to C2, rather than eight half-finished ones. French reopens once we've learned from Spanish learners.

The gap

Years of French class, and you still freeze

French is the classic school language: you can conjugate on paper, read a menu, maybe pass an exam. Then someone actually speaks to you and it all runs together. That is not a knowledge problem, it is a production problem. Spoken French drops its endings, glues words to each other with liaison, and compresses whole phrases into single sounds, so the written French in your head and the French in your ears barely overlap. The only fix is producing the spoken form yourself, out loud, and getting corrected while you do. That is what Kotobia is built for, and it is why we want French built right before opening it up.

What's coming

The same method, once French opens

Spaced-repetition flashcards with nouns carrying their gender (le fromage, la baguette), an AI voice tutor that builds conversation out of the exact words you are studying, and Nouvelle à Lyon, a serialized A1 to C2 story where you meet words because a character needs them and see them again later in scenes you remember. All of it already exists for Spanish today.

Questions

Common questions

Can I learn French on Kotobia right now?
Not yet. French is next on our roadmap after Spanish, but it isn't open for signups today. Spanish is the complete course: flashcards, the AI voice tutor, and a full A1 to C2 story, all live now.
Why launch with just Spanish?
We would rather build one course all the way and learn from real learners than spread a first release thin across eight languages. French reopens once we've applied what Spanish users teach us.
How will Kotobia handle spoken French, once it's live?
The same way it handles Spanish: an AI voice tutor that hears you, understands you even with a rough accent, and works the corrected version into its next reply instead of just marking you wrong, so your ear and your mouth train on the exact words you're studying.
How will I know when French opens?
There's no waitlist yet. Check back here, or start with Spanish now, the same tutor and method will carry over.

Start speaking Spanish while French comes together

Same tutor, same method, a course that's already complete from A1 to C2. If you want the longer version of the method, read how to actually learn to speak French for when it opens.
